3D Printing in C&En News

An article was published in Chemical and Engineering News (the trade magazine for the American Chemical Society) that highlighted a 3-D printed TLC glass cutter designed and printed by Kyle. These devices typically sell for >$750 but now can be 3D printed and made for ~$20 in material. This was initiated by a twitter conversation among colleagues. NIH Research Grant in SIU News

SIU Newsdiscussed our collaborative NIH grant that is headed by Professor Derek Fisher. The work was interested in a developing a deeper understanding of Chlamydia trachomatis, and methods to regulate phosphatases by small molecule inhibition. We have prepared a library of small molecules to impact Chlamydia growth and survival.
Beer Celebrations in C&En News

An article was published in Chemical and Engineering News (the trade magazine for the American Chemical Society) that highlighted our group's tradition of a homebrewed beer in honor of the graduating student. More recently, homemade sodas have been added to the options for graduates. The group holds a celebration party and the graduate (and Kyle) gets a keepsake beer bottle (see photo).

An article was published in SIU News highlighted Kyle's NSF CAREER Award. The NSF CAREER award provides 5 years of funding to tenure-track Assistant Professors and is one of the most prestigous grants given by the foundation.
